All of the characters origional passion and zest for life had been sucked out of them and they were reduced to having the feelings of old, complacent people. Especially Kaede, she was reduced to becoming a superstitious, jelouse and typical hopusewife of that era. She was longing to have a son and was in despair about having 'cursed' twins. What shocked me the most was her attitude towards them and how the twins did nothing back to her, and especially with Takeo doing nothing to protect them from their mother. All in all the book was quite dull and sad, I consider it the worst of the three books so far.Nabilanoreply@blogger.com
